The so-called Bürglkopf return counseling center, guarded by a private security company, is located at an altitude of 1,300 meters and is separated by a three-hour walk from the nearest village of Fieberbrunn. Living under the pressure of isolation and uncertainty, the idyllic alpine setting cannot hide the lack of future prospects and the fact that the people at Bürglkopf are there to be persuaded to leave Austria.
Lisa Polster does not get permission to film on the grounds of the center. She meets the protagonists on alpine meadows or in the forest. Bürglkopf vividly depicts how the treatment of asylum seekers is hidden from public eye and provides an insight into the lack of Austrian integration policy, which culminates in “deportation camps”.

The Vienna premiere will be followed by a discussion with director Lisa Polster.
