The People of Our Neighborhood
Performance and Discussion / Fri 24.10.2025 / Entrance 5.30 pm, Start 6 pm

The People of Our Neighborhood is a solo performance in which one actor portrays eight characters. Set on an island where Greeks and Turks live together, it follows a child exploring queer love, identity, and coexistence while learning to embrace those society calls “enemies.” Inspired by Berfin Ertan’s journey, it examines identity, peace, and reconciliation. Staging is minimal: a radio, a coffee table, a stool, and, of course, sirtaki. The play has toured eight cities and appeared in nine festivals.
