FAIRPLAY
A relationship defined by fractures, disruptions, and injuries. But also by utopian thought, tenderness, appreciation and the longing for collectivity and healing. FAIRPLAY sheds light on the interwoven nature of people and the spaces they inhabit, shape, draw from, are nurtured by. Shapeshifting fragments about moments of struggle, reconciliation, and reflection.

THE GREAT ARC
Camille Authouart, FR 2022, 11’58
With nearly 70 monumental works of art scattered throughout the district, La Défense in Paris embodies the idea of art as a collective space for encounter. A blurred memory? As dusk settles over the city, the red spider begins to unfold its legs and utopia yet again changes its shape.

NOT (A) PART
Vicky Smith, GB 2019, 5’33
Flickering corpses made immortal by analog film. 1 bee per second – split in 24 parts for 24 frames. 5:33 – the length of the film is determined by how many specimens of the flying insects are found. A cinematic language for loss and grief.
*This film contains flashing lights. / May affect viewers with photosensitive epilepsy

DIE GRAUE MARCH / GREYLANDS
Charlotte Waltert, Alvaro Schoeck, CH 2023, 11’49
Foggy air and misty light. It’s hunting season on an autumn day that soon turns into the first winter night in the high mountains. When distant sounds start to filter through the thick clouds, softly painted, the boundaries blur between dream, imagination and reality.

O KRÁVĚ / ABOUT A COW
Pavla Baštanová, CZ/CH 2023, 12’52
An imaginative and playful collage of images from the life of cows. A mosaic of gentle mouths, long tongues and prancing tails reveals a glimpse into a globally connected human-animal relationship. And above all a loving appreciation of cows.

SHITTY WEATHER
Jessica Laurén, SE 2023, 9’06
It has been raining for forty days. In the house yet another kitchen renovation is underway, with concerns about colour choices and click flooring. While everyday life seems to be defined by holiday planning and pizza deliveries, reality gushes into the basement.

SOW
Agostina Ravazzola, AR 2023, 8’27
Plants growing over buildings, disrupting the world as we know it. An activist scientist who has been accused of committing a terrorist attack by sowing a plant that has taken over the cities is wandering around an empty building, wondering when the plants will finally start bearing fruit.

AS IF IT COULD
Ada Güvenir, BE 2023, 13’17
After realizing her plant isn’t growing as it should, Olive leaves her home and goes on a quest to find new soil to let her plant re-root. Creating a new language for the exploration of this metaphor, a narrative about lost homes and integration is painfully uncovered.
