In this powerful and urgent documentary from Afghanistan director Zainab Entezar brings viewers into the heart of women’s resistance under Taliban rule. Since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021, Afghan women have seen their basic rights – education, work, freedom of movement, and dress – systematically stripped away; yet, from this repression, voices of defiance continue to rise.

The film follows two sisters and other courageous women as they organize clandestine protests, often filmed on smartphone cameras, risking arrest, violence, and intimidation to demand their fundamental freedoms. Through raw, unmediated footage, Entezar captures moments of fear, solidarity, and hope, giving direct access to lives lived in both oppression and resistance.

The screening is followed by a panel discussion with the protagonist Rashmin Jooyandeh, Manizha Bakhtari, and other experts on the topic of gender apartheid in cooperation with Waff - West Asian Film Festival and Frauen*solidarität.
